![]() ![]() Contrast that with something like Elden Ring which is a technical mess in many ways, but also has some art that just looks good to me (interestingly post patch Elden Ring actually didn't stutter on my rig even after wiping shaders so maybe they fixed it? Uncertain without further testing). Very high detail, but everytime I see footage or play that game there's just something about the general "look" to it I subjectively dislike. It's funny because I find Horizon Zero Dawn to look pretty "soulless" personally (well, maybe that's the wrong word for it). ![]() Death Stranding on my system at least seems to provide very high very smooth framerates, that means a lot. I do not care how good a game looks if it doesn't run smoothly on reasonable hardware. ![]() Maybe that's a low bar, but the state of PC gaming right now is pretty disheartening as it seems every other release has either shader comp or asset streaming/traversal stutter or both. I do wish they'd update their DLSS version to latest without the need for a swapper though For me, if a game doesn't have asset streaming/traversal stutter and if it doesn't have shader compilation stutter as well as having modern reconstruction tech it goes through the roof in terms of my technical evaluation. As you get further in you do raise some fair points about shortcomings here and there but given the excellent performance level and lack of stuttering during traversal or for shaders I'm very happy with the game's technical makeup overall. In general I'm a big fan of the title's art direction as well though that's not tech related of course. Click to expand.I found the character rendering and vistas/traveling across the terrain to look awesome personally. ![]()
